Vintage Funfair Footage Of Wembley’s British Empire Exhibition

As we’re at Barham Park at the moment, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to share this 100-year-old footage from the greatest funfair that Wembley has ever seen: part of the 1924 British Empire Exhibition, for which Wembley Stadium was built.

At almost fifty acres, it was the world’s largest amusement park, and it was also the first time that dodgem cars had been seen in the UK!

This charming video even shows the King and Queen having a go on the miniature railway. It’s particularly lovely to see the helter skelter, as this funfair icon is still one of our most popular attractions to this day.
