No.1 Hit Song Filmed at a Funfair
“Lola’s Theme” – the debut hit of British House Duo the Shapeshifters (Simon Marlin and Swedish producer Max Reich, from Gothenburg) went straight into the UK charts at number one on its release on 12 July 2004…
The video was shot at George Irvin’s Funfair at Clapham Common, featuring his arcade, David Irvin’s Hellraiser Waltzer and the visiting Top Buzz thrill ride…
Lola Marlin (Simon Marlin from Shapeshifters duo’s wife) is seen serving candyfloss and remixer, Norman Jay, seen serving in the arcade; while Cookie, lead vocalist from London Community Gospel Choir, blasts out the lyrics from the Waltzer control room / paybox!
The video was also provided by BMG records to the Showmen’s Guild with ITV News to be used in the National Funfair Week campaign; with extra filming with Irvins at Hampton Court and broadcast nationally …
We could do with more of all this to “Turn Our World Around” once again…
